| On the 6th Day of Yule... |

Well the winter holiday season is almost over. New Year's is less then a week away. I hope everyone has been able to enjoy good food and better company, be it with friends, family or strangers.
This year was a bit different for me since I got to celebrate Yule on the solstice with my roommates. I then went to my parents' house on Xmas eve and spent Xmas with them, with K&K coming over for lunch yesterday as well.
Here at Cabin 52, the home of small chaos, we started with a Yule Cactus, that we named Fred. In fact Fred is not a real cactus, but a fang leaf Kalanchoe. I was still feeling nostalgic for a tree however and with a sale to benefit the Master Gardeners program here in my county I purchased a Colorado Blue Spruce that has been named Harold.
All in all it's been a good Winterfest for me, if I ignore the fact that I work for retail. Retail can really scrooge the holidays.
I will try to get pictures of both Fred and Harold.

Well the votes are in, and thought it's not official till the Secretary of State signs off on the numbers, it looks like Ref. 71 passed! This backs up legislation for rights for registered domestic partners. No, it's not marriage, but it's a good step in the right direction. Hopefully someday we'll have voter approval of state rights of marriage for gays. Until then, baby steps. And remember, this is about state rights, not what any church or religion has to recognize.
In other news: Wow! What a Hallow weekend we had in this house!

So yesterday was the longest day of the year and the start of Summer here in the north and Mother Nature with her sense of humor here in the North West figured us having a dry spring was nice and all but it was time to change it up. We're not just talking rain. We're talking downpours and thunder. Sadly I was inside working so I didn't get to see the lightning. Anyways it was wild yesterday but this morning it's bright and on the warm side. I tell you nature is fikle at times.

Friday I took one of the Japanese exchange students down town for the semi-annual Art Walk in town. The one thing he notice was all the salmon art. I guess we do have a thing about them here in the NorthWest.
Saturday Rayn and I went to Seattle for the first NorthWest Tea Festival. Celestial unfortunately could not make it, but we'll have to take her out in the near future. I was in heaven of course. It was great. I might have to volunteer next year. I guess I ended up on the news, but I couldn't find it online the next day. Nothing from the three stations about the festival. Oh well.
